J-FOR will publish peer-reviewed articles of the highest quality, dealing with the science and technology of traditional and emerging areas that are pertinent to the forest industry.Building on the strong reputation that the Journal of Pulp and Paper Science has acquired over the years, J-FOR will succeed JPPS as PAPTAC’s preeminent and flagship publication, and will incorporate a broader scope of target areas and bring together a wider range of scientific, technological and technical papers.With a strong team of expert reviewers and associate editors, led by Dr. Honghi Tran, Frank Dottori Professor of Pulp & Paper Engineering, University of Toronto as Editor-in-Chief, and Dr. Paul Stuart, Chairholder of the NSERC Design Engineering Chair at ?cole Polytechnique de Montréal as Deputy Editor, J-FOR will cover the following areas:Traditional Areas: (covering all pulping processes, both wood and non-wood)Pulping, bleaching and papermaking fundamentals, processes and technologiesEnergy and chemical recovery fundamentals, processes and technologiesRecycled fibre and recycling technologyDevelopment of sensors, analytical methods and process control logicsMill water and energy usages and optimizationEnvironmental concerns and their mitigationEmerging Forestry Areas:Emerging forest-based products and their chains of added valueFundamentals of converting forest-based biomass into biofuels and other bioproductsNanotechnology and other high added-value processesDevelopment of chemical, biochemical and thermochemical processes for the forestry industryIntegrating emerging and sustainable processes into the pulp and paper industryHarvesting and procurement of forest and other biomass feedstocks
